Sober companions nationwide
Companions based in Los Angeles, New York City and Fort Lauderdale reach clients in all 50 states, and LAX, JFK and Miami put most international destinations one flight away.
Travel is a hard place to stay sober
Airports pour drinks before 8 AM. On the plane, the drink cart comes down the aisle again and again, and in first and business class a flight attendant offers a glass of champagne before the door even closes. Hotel rooms come with a minibar. A missed connection can leave someone alone in a terminal for three hours with nothing to do and nobody to call.
For a person in early recovery, a trip takes away the routine and the people that keep them steady, and adds stress on top. A companion puts structure back in place for as long as the trip lasts.
Who calls us
Most first calls come from a parent, spouse or sibling who wants to know a loved one will get where they're going safely. We also hear from executives who travel for work, and from treatment programs and attorneys who need a reliable escort for a client in transition.
How a trip comes together
- Check-in
Confidential consultation
Call or send the form. We talk through who's traveling, where they're going, the dates, and what has made travel hard in the past. The call is private and there's no commitment.
- Flight plan
Assessment and trip plan
We match a companion and build the plan around the client's risk level. That covers routes, layovers, hotels, meeting times at the destination, coverage hours and who gets updates.
- Ticketed
Written service agreement
You receive an agreement that spells out scope, confidentiality, scheduling and fees, including the companion's own travel expenses.
- Arrival
Travel day and arrival
The companion meets the client at the starting point and stays with them through every leg. At the end, they hand off to family, program staff or the client's own routine, and confirm arrival with whoever needs to know.
Common questions
What does a sober travel companion do?
A companion travels with the client for the whole trip. They help plan around high-risk moments, keep daily routines in place, find meetings at the destination, and stay close at the airport, the hotel and any events.
How far ahead should we book?
As early as you can, especially around the holidays. We do our best to cover short-notice trips and transports when the situation calls for it.
Do companions travel internationally?
Yes. Companions travel anywhere in the United States and abroad, including long-haul flights and multi-week trips.
