How sober companion travel works

Every trip follows the same four steps. Nothing is booked until you've seen the plan and the costs.

Four steps from first call to arrival

  1. Check-in

    Confidential consultation

Call or send the form. We talk through who's traveling, where they're going, the dates, and what has made travel hard in the past. The call is private and there's no commitment.

  2. Flight plan

    Assessment and trip plan

We match a companion and build the plan around the client's risk level. That covers routes, layovers, hotels, meeting times at the destination, coverage hours and who gets updates.

  3. Ticketed

    Written service agreement

You receive an agreement that spells out scope, confidentiality, scheduling and fees, including the companion's own travel expenses.

  4. Arrival

    Travel day and arrival

The companion meets the client at the starting point and stays with them through every leg. At the end, they hand off to family, program staff or the client's own routine, and confirm arrival with whoever needs to know.

What changes on a longer trip

Multi-day and multi-week trips get a daily rhythm built into the plan. That usually means a morning check-in, a meeting or call most days, and a set plan for evenings, which is when most people say the pull is strongest. The plan changes as the trip goes, and the companion adjusts with it.

Common questions

Who books the flights and hotels?

We coordinate the logistics so the trip fits the recovery plan. Fares, rooms and the companion's travel costs are billed to the client and reviewed with you before anything is booked.

Can family get updates during the trip?

Yes, if the client agrees. Who receives updates, and how often, is written into the plan before the trip starts.
